Pre-Season Results and News - July 28

July 28th, 2009 by football writer

Man City are never far from the headlines these days and today is no
exception. Fresh from their humiliating snub from John Terry and even
more disastrous pre-season (they are yet to win a game) it looks as if
Kolo Toure will be joining former teammate Emmanuel Adebayor at The City
of Manchester Stadium. A £15m fee is apparently already agreed and the
deal will take Mark Hughes’ summer spending up to £100m. Sunderland are
riding high after an impressive 2-0 victory over fellow red stripe
wearers Atletico Madrid and the fact that they are on the verge of
singing Darren Bent from Tottenham. A fee of £12m has been agreed and
Bent is eager to get some first team football after being marginalized
at White Hart Lane.

Moving abroad and rookie Milan coach Leonardo is been told to snap up
some youth for their aging squad. Milan are notorious for fielding
veteran players (Maldini & Costacurta to name but two) and now look set
to lower their average age. The Rossoneri have lost their last 3
pre-season friendly’s and 23 year old Wolfburg striker Edin Dzeko is
said to be Leonardo’s number one target.

Staying on mainland Europe and Zlatan Ibrahimovic finally completed his
move to Barcelona. For the pricey sum of €45 million and the free
scoring Samuel Eto’o the Catalan giants hope the Swedish international
can fire them to Champions League glory again this season as they look
to build upon their impressive treble in 2008/09.
