July 23rd, 2009 by football writer

The 20 year old Ecuador striker Felipe Caicedo will be spending the new season in Portugal with the Sporting Lisbon team on loan due to falling out of favor after the arrival of top class players to Manchester City like Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz. He was formerly playing for FC Basle till early 2008. Caicedo expresses that due to the arrival of many forwards there was no chance left for him. He feels that he will adjust to life in Portugal and triumph over European Football in the coming future. Caiceido scored 7 goals in his 35 appearances for Manchester City and is the second forward to be sent on loan after Jo, the Brazilian striker, who went to Everton. Chad Evans, another City striker is also on the verge of moving to Sheffield United. What will be the future of attacking
options for City, only time will tell.

In other news, England midfielder and Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard has apologized for his actions at Merseyside bar. He punched a man during a fight in the bar. The victim was Marcus Mcgee. Gerrard told the Liverpool Court jury that he was very much in the state of drunkenness and was trying to defend himself. The CCTV video of the incident has been released and has been streamed on all major sites related to the Football world. Such an off the field incident is a ‘black spot’ on the Gentleman’s game and such incidents should be avoided by players, especially those at responsible positions, like the players holding the captaincy spot.
