Football Transfer News

Premier League clubs in want of good squad players have turned to free agents now. Everton have signed veteran Australian defender Lucas Neill on a free transfer. Slovenian stopper Suad Filekovic has signed for Barnsley in the lower leagues after being released by his old club Maribor. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has handed former Chelsea goalkeeper Jurgen Macho a trial after he was released by Greek club AEK Athens. Also, former Villareal front man Guillermo Franco has joined Zola’s West Ham on a one year contract.

Apart from the free transfers, a lot of loan deals have also been completed in and around England. Caleb Folan has left Hull to join Boro in the Championship for three months. Newcastle have also swooped for Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili on a short term loan. In other notable movements, goalkeeper Russel Hoult has joined Northampton from Notts County while Heidar Helguson has returned to Watford on a loan deal. Newcastle want Fulham’s Diomansy Kamara to cover for the injured Shola Ameobi, but Roy Hodgson is unwilling to loan him out especially after a strong display in the midweek UEFA Cup game.

Teams are already making plans for the January window. Zenit St. Petersberg are set to renew their interest in Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko and are preparing for a £9million bid. But we’ll have to wait a couple of months to see if the move materialises or not !
