Chelsea moved within one of point of leaders Manchester United with a 5-0 victory at Portsmouth. Braces from Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda and an effort from Frank Lampard confirmed Chelsea’s dominance.

Everton become the first team to win at the City of Manchester Stadium this season by defeating Manchester City 2-0. Everton took the lead in the first half through a Tim Cahill header. And the victory was sealed in the 85th minute through a slotted effort by midfielder Mikel Arteta.

Aston Villa failed to help their chances of a top four finish by drawing 1-1 with Sunderland at Villa Park. The visitors took the lead through in-form striker Fraizer Campbell before Norwegian striker John Carew equalised from an Ashley Young cross.

Blackburn defeated Birmingham 2-1 at Ewood Park. David Dunn had fired the home side in front early-on but James McFadden equalised with a well-taken free-kick. However Dunn scored his second of the game from close-range after a good Michel Salgado cross.
