England travel to Kazakhstan for their sixth game of World Cup qualyifying, hoping to continue their 100 per cent record in group 6. The home side are currently struggling with just three points from five games and Fabio Capello’s side have recently moved up in the Fifa rankings to sixth place.

The game should be comfortable for the Three Lions, even without first choice keeper David James. The Portsmouth star will be replaced by West Ham keeper Robert Green. Defender Rio Ferdinand will also miss the clash, Matthew Upson, Joleon Lescott and Gary Cahill are competing for the Manchester United’s defenders role at the heart of the England defence.

Although Kazakhstan are big underdogs they will be looking for a shock victory in the heat of Almaty. Kazhakstan head coach Bernd Stork has called this “the biggest match in Kazakhstan’s [90-year] history” but is worried about his players fitness. He Continued “The English players are tired but we are more tired. We could play in the fifth league in Germany with our fitness, so when teams play fast against us we have big problem”.

England head coach Fabio Capello however has stated that tiredness is ‘no excuse’ for his players not performing in the clash and he will expect a victory against the underdogs. Victories over Kazakhstan and fellow minnows Andorra could see England with one foot in the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
