The two best attacking teams in club football Spanish titans Barcelona and english giants Manchester United go head to head in the Champions League final in Rome on Wednesday night. The fixture sees the two best players on the planet on the same pitch, as United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Barca’s magical Lionel Messi line up against each other. Barcelona could complete a first ever treble of La Liga, Copa Del Rey and European titles with victory, but Manchester United willing be hoping to add the European crown to the Premier League, Carling Cup and Fifa Club World Cup titles already secured.
Barcelona have major problems at the back, with Rafael Marquez out due to injury and Daniel Alves and Eric Abidal both out through suspension. Seydou Keita is set to replace Abidal at left back, with fellow midfielder Yaya Toure starting alongside former United player Gerard Pique in the heart of the defence. Captain Carlos Puyol will move to the right back position to cover the absence of Daniel Alves.
United are without Darren Fletcher, after the midfielder was harshly sent off in the victory over Arsenal in the semi finals, Brazilian Anderson is likely to deputise for the Scottish international. United did have slight doubts over Ronaldo, after he picked up an ankle injury in training on Tuesday, but the World Player of the Year is unlikely to miss this clash.
