Manchester united v Tottenham preview
Tottenham Spurs look to break into the top four of the Premier League this season by beating Manchester United at the White Hart Lane tomorrow. The North London based club have made a perfect start to the season winning all of their four matches. Manchester United on the other hand have bounced back from their shock defeat to Burnley by thrashing Wigan 5-0 away from home and then beating the other North London team, Arsenal 2-1 at home. Both the teams, however, were lucky to get all three points last time out.
Spurs have already beaten Liverpool at home and face Chelsea next week. However beating the Red Devils would be a major achievement for them considering their past meetings. The last time Tottenham beat United was way back in 2000-01 season since then Spurs have never beaten them in any competition either at home or away. The last meeting between the two clubs ended with the London club on the receiving side of a 5-2 mauling after taking a 2-0 lead.
Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson, Sebastien Bassong are all missing for the Spurs due to injury problems. Harry Redknapp is, therefore, left with no other option then to play Corluka and Huddlestone as make shift centre backs. He will also be without midfield maestro Luka Modric and long term absentees Gomes, Bale and Jenas.
Sir Alex Ferguson, on the contrary, will be relieved that none of his players have come back injured from international duty. Rio Ferdinand is poised to make a comeback from in tomorrow’s game, while Obertan, Hargreaves, Van Der Sar and Rafeal Da Silva will all miss out due to injury problems.
The men to look out for will be England’s heroes Rooney and Lennon who will try to concentrate on their club duties after qualifying for the World Cup on Wednesday
